Directions
I have traveled to and from Montreal- New York, via air, car, bus and train. My most favorite ways are either flying or driving. Flying can be more expensive and most time efficient, and driving being the most economic way of traveling and the second fastest.
By Air:
Flying to Montreal is great, provided there are no delays at the airports. The duration of the flights are just under 1 hour! There are often sales through Air Canada and the various travel and booking websites. Book early & you save!
Air Canada offers several flights a day from New York.
Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport
Airport Code: YUL
By Car:
Not interested in flying? Get a small group together and make your visit a road trip!
Montreal is situated 376 miles directly north of Manhattan, an easy 6 hour drive.
By Train:
If you've got the time! This is a very scenic and relaxing way of traveling to Montreal. The ride lasts about 10 hours or so, 12 with common delays. See Amtrak.com for details.
By Bus:
Greyhound offers several departures from Port Authority. Averages about 1 per every 2 hour or so. The ride averages about 8:30 hours to 9 hours.
DRIVING DIRECTIONS:
Basically you want to take I-87 N all the way. You should look up driving directions through either MapQuest or Google Maps.
Signs in Montreal are not always bilingual, here are some key words that might prove to be helpful:
"PONT" = bridge
"AUT" = autoroute
"SORTIE" = exit
"OUEST" = west
"Est" = east
"NORD"= north
"SUD" = south
Speed is measured in Km and not miles per hour!!!
